Machete brawl puts seven in hospital

A brawl involving several weapons, including a machete, has left seven men in hospital with serious injuries.

A group of men started fighting on Raleigh Gardens in Littleborough on Friday night (11 September) at around 11.30pm.

Police found a number of the men brandishing weapons, including one who was wielding a machete.

Three men aged 19, 42 and 47-years-old were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and have been bailed until 11 November pending further enquiries.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and she has also been bailed until 11 November pending further enquiries.

The men in hospital are thought to be in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4646 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
