Rochdale Register Office Open Day and Wedding Fayre
Date published: 13 September 2009
Couples planning their wedding had an extra incentive to use Rochdale Register Office as the first prize in a competition at today’s Open Day and Wedding Fayre was a ‘free register office ceremony’.
With many wedding suppliers attending it was perhaps no surprise that the Register Office was packed all day, with a constant flow of engaged couples, with family and friends, sampling the delicious wedding cakes, admiring the vintage Bentleys and talking to photographers, videographers, flower and balloon shop proprietors.
Highlight of the day though was a catwalk bridal fashion show presented by Brides of Rochdale - volunteer models did a superb job of showing off stunning bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses.
The event was opened by Mayor of Rochdale Borough Keith Swift who said: “It is good to be here and also good to see so many local suppliers – we are trying to promote local businesses.”
I wish all the very best, and future health and happiness, to the couples planning on getting married.”
Registrar Neil Anderson thanked the Mayor and Mayoress for attending and formally opening the event, adding: “We have lots to see, some great prizes so please do enjoy yourselves.”
Suppliers exhibiting included:
- Hire Society Wedding Cars
- Simply Flowers
- Browns Hand Crafted Cakes
- Howard Nilsen Photography
- Shutters Video
- Brides of Rochdale
- Denis Hope
- Bomac Cards & Balloons
A 10% discount was offered on all wedding, civil partnership, civil naming and renewal of vows ceremonies booked during the day.
