Date published: 11 September 2009

Rochdale Edward O'Connor is hoping to win a chance to improve the transport network in northern Nigeria.
Rochdale man Edward O’Connor has been chosen as a finalist for the Vodafone Foundation’s 2009 World of Difference Programme.
He is now hoping to beat three other finalists in a vote and spend a year working abroad for his chosen charity with his salary and expenses paid by the Vodafone Foundation.
If successful, Mr O'Connor will leave his current job and work with the charity Transaid to improve the transport network of northern Nigeria. He will go head-to-head with three other people from around the UK for the final placements on the much sought after 12-month programme.
