Eyes down for 999 day
Date published: 10 September 2009

Community Fire Safety Officer Phil Greenwood with Nadim Akhtar from Mecca Bingo and PCSO Alan Hall.
Yesterday Rochdale Fire and Rescue Service and the police attended a 999 day event at Mecca Bingo in Rochdale Town Centre to offer safety advice to customers.
The event was well attended and the fire service was able to offer free safety advice and home fire risk assessments.
Community Fire Safety Officer Phil Greenwood said: “I would like to thank Mecca Bingo for organising such a fantastic event, and for inviting me to attend. Today I have taken a large number of referrals for free smoke alarms and safety checks, and this will now mean a large number of households will be much safer from the dangers of fire."
Anyone who would like a free home fire risk assessment can call 0800 555 815 to book an appointment.
