Notice of hospitals Trust's annual public meeting

Date published: 10 September 2009

This year’s annual public meeting of The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust will be held on Tuesday 29 September at Rochdale Infirmary education centre at 6.30pm.

The Trust runs the Infirmary, as well as services at Birch Hill Hospital, Bury’s Fairfield General Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital and The Royal Oldham Hospital.

The Chairman of the Trust, John Jesky, will be joined by the Trust’s chief executive and executive directors and other members of the board and the annual report and accounts 2008/09 will be formally adopted and questions taken from the floor.

In his report, Mr Jesky will highlight the progress and achievements made by the Trust over the past financial year and thank staff for their commitment and valuable contribution.
He said: “This event gives patients, their relatives and community groups a chance to have their say and ask questions to the senior clinicians and managers leading and developing health services across our five hospitals.

“We have made some significant progress in developing new services for local people and in tackling the burden of healthcare acquired infection. A year of financial stability, a year of solid progress and achievement of targets and a year where we have started to see major new clinical developments taking place. None of our achievements to date and none of what we set out to achieve in the future is possible without the commitment and dedication of all of our staff and I wish to record, on behalf of the Board, our appreciation of their valuable contribution.

“Our Board remains determined to ensure that their work is directly connected to patient care and that the link from the bedside to the board room is well made. Everything that we do should be, and is, directly linked to improving patient care.”

The meeting is open to members of the general public, with many local patients, organisations and patients groups expected to attend.

Doors will open and refreshments will be available from 5.45pm. The formal meeting will start at 6.30pm.
