Man and son attacked in own home

Date published: 09 September 2009

Police are hunting armed thugs who threatened a man and his teenage son in their Starkey Street home.

Three men armed with a claw hammer and a screwdriver forced open the front door of the home at around 9pm on Monday (6 September).

They threatened to stab the man and his son and demanded money but when they realised they didn't have any cash they left the house, leaving the victims shaken.

They got into a metallic blue five door Vauxhall Corsa and drove off.

The first offender was white, aged between 17 and 20-years-old, about 5ft 7in tall with a slim build and wearing a dark hoody and was armed with a claw hammer.

The second was white, about 20-years-old, also around 5ft 7in tall, with a stocky build and ginger hair. He was wearing a light grey hoody and armed with a screw driver. The third offender was also white, of a slim build, slightly taller than the others and is described as having 'rat-like' features.

Police now want to hear from anyone who recognises any of the descriptions or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area to call Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 5050 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
