An employee of NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale has been named as the runner up in the Breaking Through Barriers award, presented by NHS North West.
Rachel Snow-Miller, Head of Partnerships, won the award for the personal challenges and obstacles she has faced whilst climbing the ladder to success.
On accepting the award, Ms Snow-Miller said: “I have worked hard to develop my career and am proud of what I have achieved and how I have overcome barriers. I hope that it sends out a message to people that no matter who you are or where you come from, you can achieve your goals.”
The award was presented by NHS North West’s Associate Director of Equality and Diversity Shahnaz Ali, who said: “As one of the world’s largest employers, the NHS has a responsibility to develop a diverse workforce which can bring a wealth of experience, expertise and ideas which reflect the local population hence informing service improvement. Therefore the contribution and success of staff from different diverse backgrounds should be celebrated.
“Rachel’s application stood out from the many we received as her personal experience and background was inspiring and she has put a lot of energy into developing herself.”
