Groups benefit from Awards for All

Date published: 08 September 2009

A multimedia learning programme for unemployed and low skilled individuals and a support group for African families are to benefit from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme this month.

Pride Media Association Limited will use an award of £9,774 to support unemployed and low skilled individuals by delivering a multimedia-learning programme, with the opportunity to gain an accreditation in a range of subjects including basic web design, digital photography and graphic design.

Meanwhile, the Middleton African Families Welfare And Cultural Association has been awarded £10,000.

They are two of 55 projects in the North West receiving a total of £443,705 in the latest round of awards, announced today (Tuesday 8 September).

Helen Bullough, Big Lottery Fund Head of the North West region, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many projects aimed at helping communities benefit from Awards for All grants. They are all incredibly well thought through projects that will make a significant difference to people’s lives.”

The Awards for All programme was launched on 1 April this year and, with £45million to distribute across England, it is the Big Lottery Fund’s biggest-ever commitment to a small grant scheme supporting community projects.

The scheme offers grants of between £300 and £10,000 to social and environmental projects that will benefit local communities and make a difference to the lives of those most in need.
