Digital communal aerial systems

Date published: 06 September 2009

Following an article regarding Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) achieving Digital UK’s Homes Set for Digital award a Rochdale Online reader queried ALL the communal aerials on council properties have been upgraded or are some homeowners now responsible for providing their own individual aerials.

Ian Rothwell from Rochdale Boroughwide Housing said: "As a general rule social landlords are responsible for ensuring that tenants living in properties that have a shared communal aerial system will be able to receive digital transmissions on the switchover. We have written to those affected explaining the work we are going to be doing on their homes.

"To date we have carried out the work necessary on homes above three storeys and sheltered flats - now we are doing works where necessary on our low rise buildings with communal aerials.

"People living in properties with their own aerials are responsible for ensuring they are able to receive digital reception in advance of the digital switchover.

"If RBH residents need any further help or advice, then they can contact firstly their Local Housing team - but chances are if you are affected then you will have already heard from us about our plans for upgrading your TV system."
