Mobile phone snatched from woman's hand
Date published: 06 September 2009
A robber snatched a mobile phone from a shopper's hand in Rochdale.
Between 3.30pm and 3.45pm on Thursday 3 September 2009, the victim, a 29-year-old woman was using her phone as she walked along Molesworth Street, near TK Maxx and Staples when a man tried to grab the phone.
After a brief struggle, he took the phone and the woman chased him as he ran off out of sight towards the town centre.
A passerby then went looking for the offender and managed to get the phone before the robber ran away again.
The offender is described as a white man, aged 18, about 5ft 8ins or 5ft 9ins tall, of stocky build with patchy stubble, large cheeks and black shaven hair. He was wearing a "cheap-looking" black hooded tracksuit top and matching trousers with white piping.
Anyone with any information should call the Robbery Unit at Rochdale police station on 0161 856 8427 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
