Boys do the business and girls are science specialists at Beech House

Date published: 04 September 2009

Beech House has been named the best independent school in the country for two of its GCSE subjects.

The Good Schools Guide contacted the school to tell them that their boys were top of the class in GCSE Business Studies, while their girls were the best in the country in GCSE Double Award Science.

Headteacher Kevin Sartain said: "We were delighted when The Good Schools Guide contacted us out of the blue to tell us the news. It is a great credit to all of the pupils and staff involved in achieving these results over the last few years. It's outstanding when you consider how many thousands of independent schools there are in the country."

The award is based on the Key Stage 4 GCSE results for 2006, 2007 and 2008.
