Armed men steal BMW in Heywood

Date published: 20 April 2007

Three masked men burst into a family home in Heywood armed with a machete, dagger and sledgehammer, and demanded car keys, before stealing a BMW.

Just before 10pm on Thursday 19 April 2007, a 32-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were sitting in their living room on Pleasant Street in Heywood, when they heard a noise at their front door. Seconds later, three men ran into their home, threatened them and demanded keys to a BMW which was parked outside.

One of the offenders thrust the dagger at the man and cut his side.  Paramedics treated him at home and, although he was not seriously injured, both victims were left extremely shaken.

Police are appealing for anybody with any information, or anybody who has seen a blue BMW 130M Sport, registration ST55 KLP, since the incident, to contact them.

PC Steve Moulsher from Rochdale CID said: “Thankfully in this case, nobody was seriously injured, but the victims have been left traumatised by these men forcing their way into their home – a place where they should feel safe.  We need the public’s help to find the people responsible and I would urge anyone with any information to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anybody with any information is asked to contact Rochdale CID on 0161 856 6516 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
