Lazy Sunday Afternoon at the Backdoor

Date published: 30 August 2009

This afternoon, and carrying on into tonight (Sunday 30 August), live music was pumping out at the Backdoor. The event, 'A Lazy Sunday Afternoon', is in aid of Springhill Hospice and the Back Door Music Project's "toilet fund". Bands featured included: Swamp Nobs, The Wes Paul Band, Ghost Song, Cosmic Slop, Multi Personality Disorder, Electric Gypsy’s, Cooperative, Ped Price, Two Tone and special guests.

Our photographer was there this afternoon to capture the 'Swamp Nobs' in action; the Swamp Nobs can only be described as "different", but seriously good at what they do, a fusion of blues and folk rock.

Back Door's Dave Hoyle explained the 'toilet fund' - he said: "The existing toilets leave a little to be desired, they are in need of upgrading, so today is about raising money towards that fund and we are sharing the proceeds with Springhill Hospice."

Mr Hoyle also appealed to the town's musicians and live music fans to get down to the Backdoor's over 18 nights, he said: "We have put some quality bands on but we are just not getting the support we expected. If you care about live music please come and check us out, if you don't we may well have to stop the nights and that will be another live music venue gone."

If you are at a loose end tonight (Sunday 30 August) get down there, last band on at ten!
