Springhill Hospice 2010 Rochdale Calendar
The eagerly awaited Springhill Hospice Rochdale Calendar for 2010, sponsored by the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre and featuring pictures from around the Borough taken by local photographers, was unveiled at the Hospice last night (Thursday 27 August).
The hunt to find suitable photographs began in February when the Rochdale Calendar Photo Competition was launched on Rochdale Online, followed by all the entries being put on display in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre for a public vote to find the most popular picture. This year that honour goes to ‘Peace At Last – Milnrow War Memorial,’ taken by Natalie Powell, which graces the front cover of the calendar.
Ian Jenkins, Fundraising Manager for Springhill Hospice, says: “Last year the calendar was – as in previous years – sent around the world to ex-pat Rochdalians far and wide. I know of calendars being sent to Canada, Singapore, USA and Australia and fully expect this year’s to do the same. I think the photographs we received this year were very strong and the cover is particularly striking – very poignant given the current situation in Afghanistan. Well done to everybody who was successful in getting their picture published.”
The calendar is available for £3.50 from all Springhill Hospice shops, from the Hospice Reception on Broad Lane and in many other outlets across the Borough.
