Pupils and teachers at Matthew Moss High School certainly had reason to celebrate today as they have exceeded previous years GCSE results.

Head teacher Mr Raymer said: “Matthew Moss High School is delighted with its best ever GCSE results.”

Students at the school have excelled themselves with 52% of the year gaining 5 or more A*-C grades, including English and Maths, and 70% got 5 or more A*-C Grades.

At the top of a very long list of students who should be proud of what they achieved are:

  • Mehreen Arien - 15 A* Grades.
  • Tajwar Igbal - 13 A* and 2 A Grades.
  • Umar Ahmad - 11A*, 1 A and 2 C Grades.
  • Nisa Yang - 2A*, 12 A and 1 C Grades.
  • Joanne Lord - 7A*, 5 A and 1 B Grades.

Pupil Toni Blezard who was really pleased with her results said: “I did better than I had expected and I can’t wait for college next year. I will be out celebrating tonight.”

Friends Aiysha Farid and Tahia Ahmed went to collect their results together. Aiysha said: “I am really chuffed with all of my results and I will be going on to do my A-levels hopefully at Oulder Hill or Bury.”

Tahia said: “I did much better than I though I would in History and Maths; I got an A in History and a B in maths so I’m really pleased.”

Mr Raymer added: “Congratulations to all our year 11 students and best wishes for their futures.”
