Four of the remaining hit touring artists that emerged from the heady days of the early 60s will be on stage together at the Middleton Arena on Friday 11 September.
Mike Pender, Dave Berry, Brian Poole and Vanity Fare are as much in demand today as they have been throughout their fantastic career, which now remarkably spans more than 40 years and they will continue to tour as long as they are so enthusiastically and warmly received.
With such classic hits as Sweets for my Sweet, Needles and Pins, Don’t Throw your Love Away and When you Walk in the Room, Mike Pender and The Searchers contributed enormously to the British music industry, with record sales well in excess of 40 million and 2008 saw a welcome and deserved return to the UK charts with the release of their ‘Very best of’ album.
First band to appear on TV’s legendary ‘Ready Steady Go’, Brian Poole and The Tremeloes are another Sixties class act with a catalogue of hits including Twist & Shout, Do You Love Me and Candyman and number one hits in countries across the world.
The moody charisma and distinctive vocal style of Dave Berry puts him at the cornerstone of the British record industry and the top ten hit song ‘The Crying Game’ has as much impact today as when it was first released.
Completing the line up is Vanity Fare. With their superb harmonies and outstanding musical talent they have thrilled audiences all over the world. With both "Early in the Morning" and "Hitchin' a Ride" achieving gold disc status, the group became established worldwide, particularly in the USA, where both songs were top ten hits and stayed in the charts for a total of twenty three weeks.
The ‘Oh Boy – The Non-Stop Sixites’ show is a fast moving, hit filled show that thrills audiences all over the world. Their extensive catalogue of top hits is on the play list still of the country’s leading radio DJ’s and the show features a colourful mix of contemporary material that has all ages rocking in the aisles.
Middleton Arena Entertainments Manager, Graham Duckworth, said: "The Sixties is a decade that gave us some of our classic pop gems and is unique. It continues to cross all ages and cultures and this promises to be a fantasatic show."
