Care Assistant selected for BUPA Challenge
Date published: 27 August 2009
A Care Assistant at Millfield Nursing Home, Heywood, has been selected from thousands of applicants to take part in the BUPA Challenge in Ecuador.
Sarah Connelly will travel to Ecuador in November as part of a team tasked with rebuilding a demolished building for the local community.
An excited Ms Connelly told Rochdale Online she is very happy to get the chance to help an under privileged community, adding: "I am very excited. I am proud to have been selected but also proud of the home because I am going on their behalf. I am sure it is going to be a wonderful experience."
Manager of Millfield Nursing Home Emma Fitzgerald said: "Sarah is an excellent member of team, she works hard and is very dedicated. I am delighted she has been selected, she deserves to go, she did a lot of work to get selected from the thousands who applied.
Sarah has to raise money towards the cost of her trip but is already well on the way to the £1000 she needs having done sponsored walks, sponsored waxing, benefitted from a penny jar in the home and had some of the proceeds of the summer fair donated to her cause. She is soon to take part in a sponsored fancy dress pub crawl.
