Healey Hall planning application deferred

Date published: 25 August 2009

The application for Healey Hall to change from a residential dwelling house to a specialist alcohol therapeutic unit was deferred at tonight’s (Tuesday 25 August) council planning meeting.

Councillors heard that significant new information had been forthcoming since the original planning officer’s report - specifically that on 24 August the Council was informed that two directors of Healey Hall Ltd had resigned and this may affect the proposed treatment programme outlined in the officer’s report.

Additional objections to the change of use had also been received, including one from the Rochdale Drug & Alcohol Action Team. Their concerns included there being no waiting list in this borough for rehabilitation treatment and previous experience having taught that there tends to be a significant inflow of people initially placed by other authorities, then settling in Rochdale and relapsing again.

The applicants will now be asked to provide clarification of the new information and councillors will consider the application at the next planning meeting.
