Football hooligans banned for three years

Date published: 18 August 2009

A gang of football hooligans have been banned from all grounds in the country following a brawl at the beginning of last season.

Six troublemakers followed Rochdale to Grimsby for the opening game of last season. They were refused entry into the ground so they returned back to the North West and went to Bury, ahead of their opening day home game, intent on causing trouble.

A local pub was smashed up and the gang clashed with rival supporters in Bury Town Centre on Saturday 9 August 2008.

Officers from Rochdale's Football Intelligence Unit identified the hooligans from CCTV footage.

Courtney Alfrey, 19, of Crossgates Road, Lee Scott Doran, 32, of Dunbarton Drive, Aidan Hartley, 18, of Halifax Road, Alec Henderson, 18, of Ings Lane, Luke Spencer, 17, of Thrum Hall Lane and one other man will serve three-year football banning orders.

They are not allowed to enter a town where Rochdale are playing on the day of a game, and for home games they can not enter Rochdale town centre or the area around Spotland.
