Tesco filling station unleaded and diesel pumps 'out of use'
Unleaded petrol from a Tesco filling station in Silk Street, which prompted complaints by drivers, had diesel mixed into it, the supermarket has admitted.
A number of vehicles were left needing repairs after motorists bought petrol at Tesco's filling station on Thursday morning.
Tesco said diesel was accidently put in the petrol storage tank and owners would be reimbursed for repair costs.
A Tesco spokeswoman said as soon as it was made aware of the problem, the pumps were closed off.
A spokeswoman said: "We would like to say sorry to the handful of customers affected by the fault at the pumps. They will all be reimbursed for any vehicle repairs required.
"This was an isolated incident that occurred after diesel was mistakenly put in the storage tank used for petrol."
