M62 motorway closure causes congestion
Date published: 15 May 2007
An accident on the westbound carriageway of the M62 motorway caused long delays following closure of the road for a time between J20, Rochdale and J19, Heywood, and as a result has caused major congestion on the surrounding roads, with traffic backed up to the Sudden roundabout. The carriageway is now reopened.
Two cars, a Vauxhall Tigra and a BMW were involved in the collision.
The 65-year-old driver of the Tigra has been taken to Rochdale Infirmary with serious injuries.
The driver of the BMW was uninjured.
