Growers from across Rochdale are being invited to enter their produce into the 2009 Horticultural Show at All-In-One Garden Centre.
Whether you’re new to growing flowers or vegetables, or a seasoned allotment holder, there’s a large number of categories to enter – each with cash prizes.
Categories for this year’s Show include Gladioli, Roses, Flowers, Vegetables, Confectionary, Arts & Crafts and Junior Classes. A full list of categories, entry form and further details of the Show are available on the All-In-One website.
Jason Stafford, Financial Director at All-In-One Garden Centre, said: “Following the success of last year's Horticultural Show and Family Fun Weekend we are looking forward to an even bigger and better event this year. We have seen a massive growth in ‘grow your own’ products and we would welcome all of our customers to enter this free show and hopefully reap the benefits of having a ‘grow’.”
The Horticultural Show and Charity Fun Weekend, taking place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 of August, is free and open to all members of the public.
Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale will be hosting a number of stalls including face-painting, grow-your-own workshop and craft stall. Throughout the day there will be a BBQ demonstration and All-In-One staff will be on hand to answer any questions on growing plants, flowers or food.
The Horticultural Show will culminate in the ‘Sale of Produce’ event, an auction of Show entries, on Sunday 16 August at 2pm.
All proceeds from the weekend, including the auction of Show entries, will go to Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale, All-In-One’s nominated charity.
Last year, over 2500 people attended the All-In-One Horticultural Show and Charity Fun Weekend. Visitors witnessed a high quality of entries from local Horticultural Societies and individuals alike. Slattocks & District Horticultural Society scooped the overall £200 first prize, Milnrow Horticultural Society won second prize and Ramsbottom & District came third.
