Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) – the organisation that manages the borough’s council properties - says there arew fewer empty council houses than ever before.
RBH set themselves targets year on year to turn empty properties into homes for local people.
Efficiency improvements, for example in speeding up the cleaning and any repairs needed between a tenant leaving a property and the new owner moving in, meant there were fewer than 1 per cent of council houses empty at the end of the financial year. Exact figures showed only 139 properties were vacant, with most likely to be relet within a month.
