Good news for the Exchange Shopping Centre
Date published: 01 August 2009
Empty units at the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre could soon be a thing of the past with the Shopping Centre management hopeful that three of the four units currently vacant will soon be let.
Manager Lorenzo O’Reilly revealed that negotiations are taking place to let three empty units, though at this stage of negotiations it would be premature to release the names of the interested parties.
Asked about the fourth, the former Littlewoods store, Mr O’Reilly explained the current leaseholders are still paying the rent but have no intention of occupying the unit and it will therefore remain empty.
In more good news for the Exchange, the number of shoppers has shown a small increase, an increase Mr O’Reilly said was “very welcome”. However, there are concerns that if the Council extends its free after three shopping initiative to all day Saturday, the Exchange could suffer a significant loss of income on its car park, a facility Mr O’Reilly says it already loses money on.
