Heywood Court care centre recieves green status

Date published: 31 July 2009

Heywood Court, a newly refurbished care centre, has recently had its annual Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection. The inspection allowed Heywood Court’s status to be changed from an adequate (amber) home to a good (green) status home.

The home is registered with the CQC to accept residents in the dementia care category and is available for up to 45 service users.

Liz Whyte, operations director, helped oversee the home’s transformation to a green status, which it received in mid-July.

Charlotte Adshead, the home manager, said: “The staff have all worked so hard, and really pulled together as a team.” Miss Adshead added that there was a lot of support from the local community with lots of positive feedback.

The home celebrated the achievement with a ‘Green Day’ event held at Heywood Court. Despite the weather everyone had a good time; the home manager described the proceedings of the event as “really well”.

The event consisted of a champagne reception, with a BBQ and buffet followed by cream tea later in the afternoon. A string quartet played throughout the day, supplemented with singing and dancing.

The guest list included the Mayor, Keith Swift, and Mayoress Sue Etchells, as well as the local General Practitioners, social workers, relatives of the current residents and care home staff attending.
