Fire fighters rushed out to Yorkshire Street, Heywood, after fire spread to a waste disposal pipe. The incident was reported at 1.45am.
The fire spread from a large amount of waste material, situated at the rear of the building, which was deliberately set alight near a fishing shop close to Tesco.
The smell of smoke awoke the occupants of the property, once the fire had spread to their waste disposal pipe.
Two appliances from Heywood were sent out to the scene in the early hours of today (Thursday 30 July).
The perpetrators of this attack are unknown.
