Alan Cook appointed to PCT Board

Alan Cook, local Rochdale resident has been appointed to serve as a Non Executive Director of Heywood Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust for the period 1 June 2007 to 31 May 2010. For this appointment, Mr Cook will be remunerated at the rate of £12,663 per annum and will become instrumental in assisting the PCT to meet its challenging agenda in the years ahead.
Mr Cook lives in Rochdale and is a professionally qualified accountant, a member of The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CPFA) he has extensive experience in finance and general management. He contributed to the establishment and successful development of Community First Oldham, the public/private partnership which is driving forward the LIFT initiative in Oldham.
He has 20 years experience of successful direction, planning, relationship and team management in various local NHS and voluntary organisations
All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Mr Cook has not declared any political activity in the last five years and he does not hold any other ministerial appointments.
John Pierce, Chairman of Heywood Middleton and Rochdale PCT said: “We welcome Alan because he will bring a wealth of experience of his time in the NHS, particularly his knowledge and understanding of the vitally important financial issues facing us in the NHS into the future.”
