Castleton Children’s Centre happy flowers walking float entry into Castleton Carnival last weekend had a particularly happy ending.
The Children’s Centre was awarded the John Anderton memorial cup for the most outstanding entry in the carnival. The carnival judge said she was delighted that so many families had become involved and she thought there was a real sense of pride and achievement with the Castleton float. The judge also added that she could tell that all the families involved were enjoying themselves and showed the type of community spirit that carnivals are all about.
Despite the rain, over 30 parents, guardians and children joined Castleton Children’s Centre walking float in Castleton Carnival. The children had dressed up in their best carnival clothes and they carried the brightly decorated flowers and banner they had made at the centre. Two local dads carried the banner which they and their children had helped to decorate.
Christine Fletcher who helped to decorate the float banner with her children Shannon and Tyler said: “The carnival was great. The kids really enjoyed themselves. There was a great atmosphere.
