Fun at Broadfield Park

Date published: 27 July 2009

Broadfield Park will open up to a day of fun as part of National Playday.

Rochdale Council’s Play Development Team – part of Sure Start – have organised a huge variety of free activities for children of all ages.

Play Development Team manager, Shirley Lundergan said: “The theme is ‘Make Time’ and here in Rochdale we’ve decided to pack a year into a day by offering play activities relating to the four seasons.

So for example there will be fun on the beach including donkey rides, a snow machine and igloos, find your way through the autumn maze, willow weaving and create a field of spring flowers.

Plus, a mini animal farm, climb the giant spider frame, music throughout the day, a variety of sporting activities including skateboarding and soft and messy play for the under fives. Plus lots, lots more.”

The fun starts at 11am and runs through until 4pm. Baby changing and breast feeding facilities are provided. Anyone planning to stay all day should bring their own refreshments and a change of clothes.

Playday is the national celebration of children’s right to play, now in its 22nd year. It sees thousands of children and young people get out to play at locally organised events across the country.
