Rock legends coming to town - tickets go on sale
Date published: 27 July 2009
Tickets will this week go on sale for the star-studded rock gig planned for Rochdale in September.
Post-punk legend Peter Hook will perform at the Back Door Music Project, alongside Goldblade’s John Robb, and local hero Clint Boon, as part of an exceptional tribute to the town’s musical heritage.
John Peel and Joy Division will be among the names honoured with blue plaques on the day, which are funded by Rochdale Borough Council.
Also taking to the stage for a star studded celebration of Rochdale, Manchester, Hacienda and Factory music will be Factory stalwarts ‘Section 25, and Martin Coogan (Mock Turtles).
Chris Hewitt from Ozit Morpheus Records, one of the organisers behind the event said: “The gig is going to be a celebration of this areas extraordinary contribution to British music. It’s time we remembered the borough’s links with the late John Peel, the Factory Records scene and the legendary Deeply Vale music festivals of the late ‘70s.”
The gig starts at 8pm with proceeds donated to the Back Door Music Project. Tickets are available now priced £15 from Rocks Off music shop, 65 Drake Street, Rochdale (01706 521818) or by contacting Carol Drinkwater at Backdoor Music Project, Broadwater Centre, Smith Street, Rochdale. (07989 085034 or 01706 641944.)
For credit card bookings phone Chris Hewitt on 01565 734066. Early booking is recommended.
