Celebrating Young People in Hare Hill Park
Date published: 25 July 2009
Hare Hill Park was the venue for an event billed as ‘Celebrating Young People’. Attractions included a fairground and live music from the Back Door Music Project. A number of organisations attended to give taster sessions and introduce new activities including: scouts, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, community sports activities, Beaver Scouts, Mort-On-Sport, Safe4Summer and Voices4Wellbeing.
Youth groups from across the borough had made large size ‘model chickens’ and these took pride of place on the lawn outside the front of the park offices. Mayoress Sue Etchells particularly liked the ‘yellow chicken’ that had been made and painted by one year olds, she explained to Rochdale Online: “The wings are made of paper with the children’s footprints on.”
Mayor Keith Swift said: “It’s a splendid day and the park looks wonderful. It is good to see so many activities for young people.”
