Get ready for digital switchover
Date published: 25 July 2009
Thousands of viewers can find out more about the UK’s switch to digital television as the Digital UK switchover roadshow begins a sixteen-week tour of Greater Manchester.
Digit Al, the switchover robot, will join the roadshow team as they travel through Greater Manchester over the coming weeks, offering practical advice on how to get set for digital.
The roadshow visited Littleborough on 6 July and comes to the Town Square, Middleton an 21 August and The Butts, Rochdale on 15 October.
Visitors to the roadshow will have the opportunity to:
- Find out when switchover is happening and the options for going digital. Look for advisors in pink, who can help with your digital TV enquiries.
- Learn how eligible people can get a TV converted by the Switchover Help Scheme. Look for advisors in purple, who are there to provide specific information about the scheme.
- See technical demonstrations (e.g. how to retune a box) and put questions to Digital UK’s specially trained advisers
- Meet Digit Al – Digital UK’s iconic robot, star of BBC and commercial television
Jo Waters, Digital UK’s manager for the Granada region said: “The whole of the Granada region, covering more than 7 million viewers, will have switched to digital in 6 months. This is a great opportunity for people to meet the team from Digital UK, find out how to prepare and learn what help is available.”
Six percent of Granada viewers have yet to make the switch to digital TV, with around twenty percent of all televisions in the region still analogue. † Anyone unable to attend the roadshow can ring the Digital UK helpline for advice on 08456 505050 or visit digitaluk.co.uk.
