Cash for youth groups
Date published: 23 July 2009
Youth groups across the Rochdale township area are being invited to apply for a grant of up to £10,000 to pay for activities for youngsters in their area.
Projects that will run for a period of up to 12 months are eligible to apply for the ‘one off’ amount – but they need to be able to demonstrate how they’ll make a difference to youngsters in their local community.
To apply, groups need to fill out a simple form and tell the council what their project or idea is – and how it will benefit youngsters between 8-13 years.
Councillor Andrew Abbott, chair of the Rochdale Township, said: “This is a great opportunity for local community and voluntary groups to come up with ways of making a difference to youngsters’ lives.
"We have some fantastic organisations within the township area – many of them are already doing good work with children – but we hope that this extra funding will help to provide activities that will involve even more young people.”
The closing date for applications to the Youth Fund is 7 August 2009. The minimum amount groups can apply for is £2,000 and the maximum is £10,000.
