Deborah Ball will lead the new foundation school, currently under construction following the amalgamation of Balderstone Technology College and Springhill High School.
Speaking after her appointment, the 47 year old who lives in Huddersfield said she is absolutely delighted and can’t wait to get started:
“I feel very privileged that I have been chosen for this exciting role. It is a great opportunity and I will ensure that children get the high quality education that they deserve.”
Deborah is currently Acting Headteacher at Blakewater College in Blackburn – judged as one of the most improved schools in the UK. She has 25 years teaching experience at schools throughout Lancashire and Tameside.
“This new school will make a real difference to the life chances and aspirations of the community that it serves and we’re going to be working with some fantastic partners such as Middleton Technology College – one of the most outstanding schools in the country and the new Rochdale 6th Form College.
"We’re going to raise standards and expectations, in what will be a superb new building by September 2010. I can't wait."
