Knife crime up despite campaign

Man robs cash from Middleton shop at knifepoint
Violent knife crime has increased in Greater Manchester despite being the subject of an anti-knife crime scheme over the last 12 months.
The government implemented the Tackling Knives Action Programme in Greater Manchester last July but since then knife-related violence has gone up in the region.
A series of high-profile stabbings triggered the incentive, which has seen Police increase their activities in knife crime hotspots and run courses to highlight the dangers of carrying knives.
A second phase of the scheme will be rolled out in Greater Manchester, which will focus on serious violence among 13 to 24-year olds.
