Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale are looking for local University graduates to join their v challenge, a 13-week scheme that gives project management skills and boosts employability through a hands-on experience.
As the graduation celebrations draw to a close, many graduates are faced with the increasingly tough task of finding a job. Graduate unemployment is expected to rise up to 22,000 this year.
Since 1993, the Trust has helped well over 1000 graduates from across the country find employment. Volunteers deliver a range of community projects across the boroughs of Oldham and Rochdale including community engagement, environmental education, youth work, marketing and recruitment.
Local graduates Jade Czuba and Ashley Hall from Rochdale have benefited from the placement as it enhanced their CV and increased their employability.
Ms Czuba said: “Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale has helped me to gain the experience to get an enjoyable job in a time when jobs are hard to find. Being a graduate is not enough; you need challenging experiences to push your boundaries so you know what you are truly capable of. Groundwork provides an invaluable platform for graduates to do this.”
Mr Hall said: “If it wasn’t for v challenge I wouldn’t have had a variety of great experiences, the opportunity to work with a great team of like-minded people to create positive impacts upon people and places, and now a job that I love.”
