Date published: 17 July 2009
Rochdale’s mobile library was one of five mobile library services that took part in a parade as part of the recent Manchester International Festival.
There were 29 different groups from all over Greater Manchester with over 600 participants. The procession went from Deansgate and ended at Manchester Cathedral. The festival was also filmed and was showcased as part of a major exhibition about ‘Procession’ which opened at the Cornerhouse on Wednesday 9 July.
Les Holt, mobile library driver said: “The sun shone on us and approximately 20,000 people who lined the streets. The people watching the parade clapped and cheered us along the way, some shouting “good old Rochdale!” It was a great day, very well organised and an enjoyable experience.”
