Shooting tip-off probe
Date published: 16 July 2009
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is to examine if anything could have been done to prevent the murder of Salford shop assistant Nasar Hussain.
Mr Hussain was shot with an automatic pistol in the chest and stomach on 4 July.
There were allegations that police were tipped off with armed officers only minutes away when he was gunned down.
A Wigan man has been charged with murdering Mr Hussain and remains in custody.
The commission will look at what information was known by the Serious Organised Crime Agency and Greater Manchester Police in the days leading up to the Salford shooting.
Police are still investigating whether the murder of Junaid Khan in Block Lane, Chadderton, four days later was linked.
