MP's grandchildren home with suspected swine flu

Date published: 15 July 2009

The family of Heywood and Middleton MP Jim Dobbin have been ordered to stay at home with suspected swine flu.

The MP’s daughter and her husband are staying off work, while their two children, aged eight and 13, have been ordered to stay off school.

As suspected cases, the family, who live in Cardiff, South Wales, are not being treated by the NHS, the family will follow NHS advice to stay at home and see how the illness progresses.

Mr Dobbin told Rochdale Online News: “It is spreading and there is clearly a pandemic.

“My daughter will have to stay at home until they find out for sure, but in the vast majority of cases it is not serious and not a cause for panic.”
