Fundraising fun for dads and tots

Date published: 14 July 2009

Dads and children from Howard Street Sure Start Children’s Centre joined a sponsored Thomas the Tank Engine walk round Falinge Park one very hot, sunny afternoon last week.

The group raised over £300 for the Autistic Society, a charity close to the heart of parent Emma, who has a child with autism. The event was organised through ‘Hands On’ the parents group, which is based at the Howard Street Children’s Centre.

The route was marked out with station names which were collected by the children as they walked along.

Six month old identical twins Daniel and Oliver Taylor joined the walk with their mum Helen. Everyone had a great time, and were ready for cool drinks by the time their reached the centre.

The aim was to encourage healthy living through exercise and also to enable families to make a positive contribution to community life.

Howard Street Sure Start Children’s Centre offer a full time table of events and activities that support parents and children. For more information call into the centre on Howard Street, Falinge or call 01706 646103 (option 1) for more details.
