Life threatening injuries in Wardleworth stabbing

Date published: 10 July 2009

Two men are suffering possible life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the street last night (Friday 10 July).

Witnesses report “screaming and shouting” erupting from a house on Folly Walk, near Lomax Street, at 7.00pm, as the men, believed to be cousins, spilled onto the road.

A 19-year-old is in intensive care after being stabbed in the chest and a 20-year-old has been stabbed in the back. It is believed the injuries could be life threatening.

A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “There was a lot of screaming and shouting outside, I went to look out of the window but all I could see is that they were fighting.

“This is usually a quiet place, the only noise you get is from kids playing on the road. It beggars belief that there should be a stabbing on the doorstep like this.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Police attended Folly Walk after reports of a stabbing.”

An arrest has been made in connection with the incident.
