People’s Art at Touchstones
Date published: 07 July 2009

Youngsters can enjoy their own projects in the 'People's Art' art paddock.
The annual art exhibition giving Rochdale artists the opportunity to exhibit in their local gallery at Touchstones Rochdale has been officially opened by the Mayor, Councillor Keith Swift.
People’s Art returns with another display of work by people who live or work in Rochdale, Middleton, Heywood, Littleborough and Milnrow.
There are almost 200 paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings and craft objects on display.
Visitors to the exhibition can vote for their favourite artwork in the ‘People’s Choice’ award. The artist with the most votes at the end of the exhibition will be awarded a selection of art materials.
There are also hands-on activities for younger visitors to have a go at within the exhibition. Known as the Art Paddock, the space is full of creative activities based around colour, shape and pattern for budding artists.
Many artworks in the exhibition are for sale and the exhibition runs until 6 September.
Touchstones, on the Esplanade, is open Monday to Saturday 10am–5pm, Sundays and Bank Holidays 12noon–4.30pm. Admission is free.
