Chef hots up for Feel Good Festival

Date published: 06 July 2009

Aazam Ahmad, BBC Fusion Chef, cooked up a delicious 6 course meal for 50 hungry guests in Bar 5 as a warm-up to this weekend’s Feel Good Festival.

The Mayor, Cllr Keith Swift, attended the sold-out event in support of the Festival and of Bar 5. The varied and plentiful menu included salmon pakoras, ostrich fillet and Aazam’s signature dish of swordfish with mango and paw-paw sauce.

For each course, Aazam invited a member of the audience to cook with him, as he demonstrated his skills to the guests and shared his hints and tips. The Bar 5 chefs then presented the guests with their own portion.

The Mayor entertained the room with a version of Frank Sinatra’s ‘Lady is a Tramp’.

Jayne Warcaba, owner of Bar 5, said “I would like to thank everyone who came along and supported Bar 5 for the fantastic evening with Aazam. It was such a warm atmosphere, and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves, as well as picking up some amazing culinary tips! It was such a successful event that we’ll definitely be doing similar things in the future.”

Aazam will be performing cookery demonstrations in the Theatre Tent on the Butts at various times on Friday and Saturday at the Feel Good Festival.
