Thousands enjoy Darnhill Festival
Date published: 06 July 2009
Over 2000 people are thought to have attended the Darnhill Festival on Saturday (4 July), said to be the biggest crowd yet.
Local people “lined the streets” to watch the carnival parade, which proceeded from Argyle Parade, and up to St Margaret’s Primary School, where the afternoon was then packed with activities such as dance workshops and live music performances.
Event co-ordinator, from Cartwheel Arts and the Darnhill Festival Association said: “Lots of people were calling up on Friday to make sure the event was going ahead, and at first we were unsure how it would turn out.
“But people lined the streets and there were a lot of new faces around, we gathered around 2000 people, with is out biggest ever crowd.
“It was a great success.”
