'Deeply concerning' drainage costs
Date published: 05 July 2009
Paul Rowen, MP for Rochdale says he will fight to keep “deeply concerning” water drainage costs down for non-profit organisations.
Places of worship, amateur sports groups, and Guide and Scout Associations are among the groups who are facing increased costs an announcement made by United Utilities.
Paul Rowen MP said: “This is a deeply concerning issue. These non-profit organisations should not be allowed to suffer.
“A moratorium does not go far enough. OFWAT should make demands of United Utilities to end this situation as quickly as possible.
“After much persistence, progress is finally being made. I shall do everything in my power to ensure the right thing is done”
United Utilities announced that the increased costs of water drainage for faith buildings, community amateur sports groups, and Guide and Scout Associations would not be charged for the 2009-2010 billing year.
However, concerns still exist over the proposed increased prices for the next billing year.
