Mayor enjoys fire fun day
Date published: 05 July 2009
The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Keith Swift, today decided to join in on the fun at the Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum open day.
Children from across the borough enjoyed chatting with fire fighters and police officers about their roles in the community, and there was even a big, fire themed bouncy castle for them to let off stream while the adults looked around.
Old and new fire engines were on display for all to see, as well as leaflets and advice from both Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Greater Manchester Police.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “It’s a good chance for families to have a day out and its fun for the kids.
“Plus we get to pass on advice and information to people who have any questions about us."
