'Capture the Canal' competition

Rochdale Canal
Teenagers aged 13 to 18 are being invited to 'capture the canal', with a chance of winning prizes worth a total of £850.
Rochdale Canal Society, in association with the Rochdale Township Youth Fund and Waterways Trust, are hosting a competition which they want to teenagers to enter a photograph, sketch or painting of Rochdale Canal.
Entrants can capture a scene anywhere along the length of the canal, which is one of Rochdale's greatest heritage assets.
Youngsters have up to the end of September to capture the canal, while entrants are being reminded of the Rochdale Canal Festival, on Saturday 11 to Sunday 19 July, when there will be lots of activity on the canal for them to capture.
Viewing of entries and prize presentations will take place in October. The first prize is a Canon G10 Camera worth £250, second is a Sony W150 Camera worth £150, third is a Panasonic Camera worth £100, fourth is a pair of Hawk Endurance Binoculars worth £100, fifth is a 1.5m x 1.5m framed digital print on canvas of your entry worth £100, while there are also five runners up prizes of Windsor and Newton Oil Paints worth £30 each.
An entry form stating your name, address, school or college and class/form number, and an indication whether your entry is a photograph, painting or sketch must be returned to Acton and Acton Ltd, Heybrook Mill, Hamer Lane, Rochdale, OL16 2UL by Thursday 20 August.
Pictures must be handed in before 25 September.
