A man has today Thursday 2 July 2009, been sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to a number of burglaries and other offences, including one in Rochdale.

Aaron Freeman, 20, of Crumpsall, pleaded guilty to 10 offences including one burglary in March this year on Crow Hill North, when he broke into a house and stole a camcorder, knife, money and the keys to a Honda CRV, in which he made his getaway.

In total he pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary, one attempted burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving with no insurance, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, failure to report a collision and failure to attend a drugs assessment.

A further 15 crimes were also taken into consideration at Manchester Crown Court.

The offences were all committed within a three-month period between January and March 2009.

Freeman was wanted in relation to a burglary and attempted burglary in north Manchester and was subsequently arrested in March 2009

After being charged with these two offences he was remanded into custody and later admitted his involvement in a number of other crimes.

Detective Inspector Mark Hudson from the Volume Crime Team said: "Freeman has admitted to his involvement in numerous crimes that caused misery to the community of Greater Manchester.

"He was willing to take dangerous action to avoid being caught by police but once he knew his time was up, he was willing to own up to his crime spree.

"I am pleased he is now off the streets and unable to disrupt the lives of anymore innocent people."
