An 83-year-old lady was lead to safety after a faulty chip pan burst into flames in her flat.
Fire fighters attended Greenbank Road on Monday afternoon (29 June), where the pan had caused fire damage to her kitchen walls and roof.
As part of a new scheme to prevent chip pan fires, crews presented the lady with a brand new chip pan, and have now issued a warning to ensure people are taking the necessary precautions.
A spokesman from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are happy to provide new chip pans to people who don’t have access to a new one.
“If they are not thoroughly cleaned, or are left unattended, there can be devastating consequences.”
