Church art exhibition

Date published: 28 June 2009

Parishioners from St. George’s, Oakenrod and St. Michael’s, Bamford are planning an art exhibition, entitled A4God, to be held this September in Manchester Cathedral.

Andrea Sarginson, Project Leader said: “We held a smaller-scale event at St.George’s church over Easter, which generated a lot of interest and provided a fitting backdrop to the church services. It brought to life the hidden talent we had in our two churches, with displays ranging from intricate quilted work to paintings of happy faces created by younger members of our uniformed organisations.

“We are really excited about the “Art for God” exhibition and would love people to get in touch if they would like to display their own personal piece of artwork. It can be anything that shows how God speaks to them through their local church and worship, whether that be in the form of a photo, poem, painting or textiles, for example. The only proviso is that it must be A4 size, hence the title. We hope that the September exhibition will serve as a striking mosaic, reflecting how the beauty and spirituality of church buildings provide us all with inspiration.”
